Greetings from San Diego State University’s American Language Institute!
Summer is here, which means longer days and an abundance of sunshine. Our students are enjoying outdoor activities in their spare time all around San Diego, including baseball games at the beautiful stadium downtown, concerts in the park, hiking and camping in our local mountains, and surfing at the beach.
Summer programs are in session with IEC B and BEGP B starting this week. The IEC Summer Session: Discover California will begin August 8, with additional start dates of August 15 and August 22. As a reminder, the spring 2017 application deadline for the Semester at SDSU program is September 26, 2016 for all Business Courses and Business Certificate programs, and October 24, 2016 for General Course and Certificate programs (excluding Business). Lastly, as always, we are planning ahead! Applications for summer 2017 will be opening very soon.
Our marketing team and directors are currently making plans for fall travel and we hope to have the opportunity to meet with some of you starting in September. Speaking of travel, several of us attended the NAFSA conference in Denver at the end of spring, and it was such a pleasure to have face-to-face meetings with many of you. We value the relationship we have with our partners and appreciate your insight.
You will notice soon that the Business English for Global Practices (BEGP) program will have a new name, International Business English (IBE). This name change better describes the program which focuses on language and communication skills needed for international business. In addition, you may have noticed that applications are closed for the Social Entrepreneurship (SE) program. We are currently redeveloping that program with hopes to reopen applications sometime next year, if not sooner.
